Our client, who is an amazing interactive experience agency that is spearheading the LinkNYC Project in which NYC will convert phone booths into digital experience advertising displays & also provide 100% free high speed WiFi to all of NYC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to create next generation platforms and systems. An ideal candidate would be capable of balancing good engineering practices with a changing landscape of business requirements. Such a candidate would also be expected to work in an agile process to regularly deliver incremental improvements. Experience in Java is a requirement & any experience in Scala is a huge plus, but they can train the right person in Scala if they present with strong Java & a willingness to learn Scala.
Responsibilities:
- Work with designers, engineers, and product leads to create innovative solutions-break down high-level goals into backlog items Integrate proprietary libraries and open source software into existing systems
- Creating and improving system architecture for high scalability
- Create integration's with third party services and external APIs
- Provide technical insight to the business development staff when needed
Required qualifications:
- Extensive experience working with functional and object-oriented programming
- Strong proficiency with algorithms and data structures
- Experience applying software engineering design patterns
- 4-6 Years of Professional programming experience with Java (Scala Is a HUGE PLUS)
Desired Skills:
- Experience designing distributed systems
- Experience working in a test-driven environment
- Experience designing for high availability
- Experience working with AWS infrastructure
