Devops – Lead Implementation Engineer Opensource Automation Midtown Manhattan

Responsibilities include the following:


  • Function in a lead technical role on delivery teams implementing new applications and capabilities.
  • Propose and lead improvements that help to reduce the time to market and risk of issues with right level of change control and management.
  • Lead the reducing of cycle time and lead time to ensure the increasing of Service Delivery Velocity
  • They will have to pair with Development to coach, help design and develop automated software deployments which reduce the total release duration and work effort while decreasing the percentage of software release failures.
  • Ensure continuous delivery by pair with Development to design and develop software releases that can be performed at any time of day or night with no unplanned downtime
  • Automate every possible aspect of infrastructure implementation (within cost / benefit constraints)
  • Create sufficient documentation and services to ensure our strategic Monitoring Service is a ‘self-service’ system for development teams
  • Main contact for implementation and support activities on Windows and Linux Server based and networking infrastructure components.
  • Collaborate with development teams on system design, application packaging, deployment, and monitoring solutions.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for platform technologies in the Operations organization.
  • Recommend technology optimizations, performance tuning and process improvements to improve project lead times.
  • Help refine the continuous integration process by working with others in operations and development to enhance release automation using open source tools.
  • Ensure that appropriate documentation and training is delivered to 1st & 2nd level support teams.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of prior hands on experience in build and deployment automation experience with Open Source Technologies, experience with Puppet, Jenkins, Rundeck, Saltstack, or Chef Server Configuration tools highly preferred
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience implementing hardware and software infrastructure in Enterprise environments
  • Proven release management and control and Risk management skill for Production operational..
  • Thorough understanding of high availability architecture, networking, and storage solutions (SAN/NAS).
  • Administrative level knowledge of Linux operating systems and middle-ware (e.g. Clustering, MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, IIS, Apache, and Elastic Search).
  • Experience with data center operations, server and network hardware, asset management and monitoring systems.
  • Experience with issue and bug tracking systems (e.g. Jira)

PLUSES INCLUDE : 

  • Familiar with relational database concepts and have the ability to construct at least basic SQL queries.
  • Linux  scripting experience (e.g. Bash, Ruby, Python)
  • Source control including SVN and/or Git
  • Kanban methodology for managing workflow
